Kelowna Artist Rebekah Nesbit

Rebekah speaks about her artwork and art.

I'm Rebekah Nesbit.   I live in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.  I'm and artist and the site owner of TripleNineGraphics.com.  I also have other sites.  Most of my sites are art and photography related and to promote my artwork.  I decided to take the plunge and set up this website and the other sites in order to make my art and photography available for those who enjoy artwork and photos.
I love computers, the internet and I love to shoot photos and create digital artwork.  I thought to myself, why not show the world what I can do.  There are many good artists out there but I especially admire the ones who are self taught and promote themselves without asking for financial help such as grants and so forth.  After all you must treat it like any other business if you want to promote and sell your work.  It isn't easy but it can be done.  It just takes a lot of effort and how badly you want it.
I have read a lot of articles on the internet about artists and what is classified as an artist.  It appeared to me that you do not give yourself that title unless someone gives it to you first.  It also seems that one must carry some sort of university degree to be given the prestige of the title of an artist.  Thank God, there are websites that will help promote artists at all levels for free or little cost.  Well, I'm here to set the record straight.  I have seen many people with no university degree who are more talented artists than those who hold an arts degree.  Yes, it is beneficial in many aspects to hold a degree but if one does not really have the inborn talent or desire, it is useless.  Just recently I saw a piece of so called artwork of nothing but a few strokes of lines on a small piece of canvas that was selling for over a hundred dollars.  The artist apparently holds a degree.  No effort there but just to save a piece of excess canvas from being tossed into the garbage can.
My artwork and photography does not require expensive paper, canvas, messy oils, paints and the such.  That is what I like about digital artwork .  One must be very good with computers and know how to use the right software to produce the artwork.  After all, the computer screen is your canvas.  It does help to have a high end computer but one can use an older model and still be able to create decent art and edit photos.
Of course, there are those who choose to use the traditional methods of creating artwork and that is fine to.  It is nice to have a quality hand painted picture hanging on your living room wall that all can admire when they come into your home.  Everyone has their preferences and their right to express what they see as art, that is in decency.   I say go for it.
